Which newspaper should I read for UPSC and how much time should it take?
Many aspirants spend three hours on the newspaper and remember very little. The aim is to understand issues linked to the syllabus, not to read every page.
- Choose one national newspaper, such as The Hindu or The Indian Express, and stay with it.
- Read the front page, national and international news, the economy pages and the editorial pages first.
- Skip crime reports, sports and advertisements unless a topic is linked to the syllabus.
- Keep a one page note per issue: background, recent development, arguments for and against, and a way forward.
Limit newspaper time to about an hour a day and revise your notes every weekend.
